DART
(Drugs Are Really Trouble)

Substance use/abuse
awareness and education program

Illegal drugs are not okay for anyone. Alcohol is only legal for persons of the age of majority. Prescribed drugs are okay only when taken as prescribed for the designated individual by a physician.

What is the DART Program?
The DART program is a series of classes that are designed to educate participants about the effects of alcohol/drug use and misuse. The focus target of this program is youth between ages 16 and 21, those individuals who are old enough to drive, but not old enough to drink.

  • This program is a minimum of 10 weeks
  • Each weekly class is 90 minutes

What is Taught in the Classes?
The material (printed and videos) used in the classes covers such things as the effects of alcohol/drugs on one’s body, the impact of misusing alcohol/drugs on an individual, his or her family, and society. The goal of this program is to provide individuals with the tools that are needed to combat the perceived need to experiment with alcohol/drugs, to help individuals understand that they can be effective without using/abusing substances, to provide a safe environment for individuals to discuss the effects of alcohol/drugs.

The short-term pleasure found in alcohol/drug use is not worth the long-term damages one experiences. Alcohol/drugs affect, alter, and damage brain cells.

You have a right and a responsibility to say “No!”

Substance use/abuse education is an important topic for everyone, especially young people~~ our future leaders. This program is particularly designed to educate young people, especially those who are, in some ways, considered to be adults.
